Nerdist Podcast #37: Live @ Bumbershoot!

Special live show! We packed our ironic tshirts and trekked up to Seattle for the insanely fun Bumbershoot Festival! Matt, Jonah & I set up shop in the Charlotte Martin Theatre (within pooping distance of the Space Needle) were joined by wonderlady comedy duo Garfunkel & Oates, the fantastic David O’Doherty (who is hilarious and Irish), a surprise guest, and about 500 lovable nerd voyeurs who just came to watch.

This show was more fun that getting shot in the nucleus accumbens with an orgasm ray.

Comments

  1. Beyond Dead says:

“whale-fisting clown farts,” I guess that makes at least two who didn’t notice it here.

  2. This Guy! says:

David O’Doherty completely forgot the “FML” status updater-ers that update 5 times a day about how much there life sucks.

    “Work til 6 FML!”

YES! Fuck your life! I hate your life too if you use “FML”
    /anger

  3. Scott Sigler says:

Fuck me, that was phenomenal! I already love this show, and this episode was far and away the best yet.

  4. Selene says:

Amazing episode! It seems I get introduced to so many awesome comedians and such. Thank you for that Nerdist podcast! πŸ˜€
I was excited when I heard Chris say he was coming to Florida to do stand-up, but that drained away when I realized I couldn’t go. Oh well, hopefully next time. Keep it coming, guys!

  5. Ila says:

One of the best live shows ever! Thank you for working on the recording quality – nothing hurts more then a funny episode that I have to crank to hear one person, then am defended by another. Wish it could have been longer, where is my 3-hour podcast? You people are no skinny Drew Carey.

Would love to see a full Garfunkel & Oats episode when possible – lady musical comedy ftw!

  6. Heather says:

I think I make three for the blurbs.

P.S. You had me at Dropbox.

  7. DefconDan says:

Awesome selection of comics… well done, Nerdist I SAY WELL DONE!

  8. scott says:

hey chris in response to who reads the little blurbs about the podcasts in itunes “whale-fisting clown farts” so at least one person reads the blurbs don’t feel so like they are going to waste.

  9. The Deej says:

Finally I can listen to a live podcast and say I was there.

Also loved the show later on that day as not only were you great but I got introduced to the awesome Jamie Kilstein. Please have him on your podcast, pretty please!

  10. Matt says:

Bumbershoot??? I’m hoping that if you were in Seattle that entire weekend you at least spent one day at PAX a mile down the road! Talk about geek heaven.

  11. Marie says:

I am now, and forever will be a David O’Doherty lover! Thanks for giving me the gift that is a quirky Irish fellow πŸ˜€

  12. Andy Hunt says:

I love that O’Doherty rewrote his beefs song and replaced his rant against people with iPhones with a rant against celeb news so he wouldn’t hurt nerds’ feelings.

  13. JE Smith says:

We still need a Nerdcast devoted solely to Garfunkel and Oates. Those ladies are delightful and hilarious.

  14. DonnyVit says:

So… “whale-fisting clown farts,” eh? Good one.

Thumbs up for reading the episode description.

  15. Aoife says:

^that comment made me sound like a dick, I TAKE IT BACK πŸ˜›
It was laced with sarcasm πŸ˜›

  16. Aoife says:

I had a full on nerdgasm when I saw David O’ Doherty was on πŸ˜€

Although I resent you had to put he is ‘hilarious and Irish’ in the post as though the two are usually mutually exclusive.

  17. Ok, can’t wait to see this, but you promised us a Garfunkel and Oates episode . . . it’s like you’re blowing me after promising sex!

  18. Bethany says:

David O’Doherty AND Garfunkel and Oates?!? Nerd-splosion!

  19. MeeSook says:

So excited about the DOD (David O’Doherty) on the podcast! Not only is he hilarious, but he has very mild superpowers, knows a 100 facts about pandas, and will rock your world in quite a gentle way.

  20. Rachel says:

Hooray! This was AMAZING to see live! <3
