Nerdist Podcast: 300th Podcast! Tom Lennon Returns!

Since Tom Lennon was the guest for episode #1, it’s only appropriate that he returns for episode #300! Chris, Jonah and Matt return to Tom’s house to see how things have changed since that first episode…

  1. Patty Marvel says:

#1. Congrats on 300 episodes! Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of guys.

#2. Cool pic. Who made it?

  2. Jed says:

This was one of my top favorite episodes! Tom Lennon is hilarious! Congrats on 300 and cheers to the next 300 episodes.

  3. Robert says:

I love how, early on, Tom says his final line in the DKR scene was likely cut because it was “pretty jokey stuff.” Catwoman cracks wise for three hours but *that* line was too jokey? Funny stuff.

  4. SimonGodOfHairdos says:

I am so happy to hear that I am not the only person who experienced motion sickness on Star Tours.

  5. Taryn says:

I am so behind on episodes and I have been so stressted out this week (anxiety brain is for some reason telling me being up for a new job is a reason for terror not excitement…damn brain) but this made my day. I love the episodes with Tom and this is no exception. Perfect blend of humor and insight. Thanks guys!

  6. Carlos Perez says:

Note to self: never listen to Tom Lennon while driving. It may lead to excessive laughter and traffic fatalities.

  7. Kevin says:

[Internet Sarcasm] Guys, remember when the theme song was in stereo? Good times.[/Internet Sarcasm]

  8. Mattano says:

Great episode. I laughed my ass off! You guys get me through the most boring workdays. I would waste my time with the Nerdist Podcast any day.

  9. SlimCharles says:

Tom Lennon was really funny both time he was on. I didn’t like any of his movies or TV shows at all, just not my cup of tea, but he’s a great guest.

    Congrats on 300 episodes!

  10. Kathryn Vento says:

I LOVE that you are positive and supportive! One of my favorite things about the podcast. I try to do the same in my own life. This was a terrific one, as always- adore Tom Lennon. (And yes, my comment name is my real name 🙂 Congrats to all of you on 300 Nerdist podcasts!!

  11. vincent says:

This is one of my favorite podcasts. I always love the lively discussions and inside Hollywood scoop. It is shocking the hilarious Thomas Lennon is not a bigger star. This guy should be as big as Steve Carell , Will Ferrell, and Zach Galifianakis.

  12. Ross says:

It’s the “Paris of S.A.” because the tastemakers of Buenos Aires in the late 1800s & early 1900s deliberately copied the neo-classical architecture that was the rage then in European cities, especially Paris. The standard joke the residents there make about themselves is that they are “Italians who speak bad Spanish, and wish they lived in Paris.”

Having everyone sign their comments would only work if you could guarantee that some d**k in a position of authority over that person won’t be able to make them pay for speaking their mind–which you will never be able to do.

  13. Jarrod (J-Rod) Egerton says:

“I never google … or bing … myself”

  14. Just watched Billy Joel’s “Allentown” video thanks to you guys. Man, was that one of Joel Schumacher’s early works? That was “gay” in the politically-incorrect 6th-grade sense of the word.

  15. Congratulations to Chris, Matt and Jonah. I this was for sure the perfect guest for a 300th episode.

I have always felt when listening to this podcast that I was sitting around listening to me three favorite guy friends shooting the sh*t and talking to all the people I nerd out about and wish I could talk to.

My day is always made when I see a new Nerdist podcast is waiting for me. I am always amazed and excited to see the great guests that you continue to have. Keep up the great work guys.

I look forward to all your future endeavors in podcasting and beyond.

  16. Eddy says:

I hope spoiler protection becomes a thing.

  17. Charles H says:

Chris, feel free to have spoilers in the podcast. Especially from a book written 15 years ago. Technically anything someone doesn’t already know is a spoiler. So unless you intend introduce no new information to the show, loosen up on the reigns.

Alternatively just saying a spoiler about to be talked about is warning enough.

  18. Sparklepony says:

    Much thanks, JP Blues!

  19. JetpackBlues says:

@Sparklepony: Switching off the mobile theme, by scrolling to the bottom of in Safari, will get you the ‘desktop version’ of the site. Then you can play the current podcast from the banner at the top, surf through the Podcasts link and choose to play all the shows. It opens the audio another ‘page’ and streams it.

But I’d recommend just spending the $2 on the Downcast App.

  20. tzvi says:

  21. Sparklepony says:

Hey Chris! Congrats on your 300th, and please can you just have Tom Lennon on all the time?
Actually, I had a technical question. Now that Apple created that awful podcast app that is necessary for listening to podcasts, is there a way for us listeners to listen through the mobile app directly from the mobile website, like we can on our laptops? So, for example, how you have the current episode on the top of the page, and previous under podcasts, so if we are on our laptops, we don’t have to go through itunes, but we do if we’re on our iphones.
I really hope that question made some amount of sense. Great show, and congratulations again!!

  22. Drakeo says:

    Happy 300th Podcast!

    Here’s to 300 more!!!!

    Mazel Tov!

  23. Patrick says:

Awesome episode, just like every one before it. Thanks for all the free funny and have a great new year!!

  24. Daniel V. Schilling says:

Thanks for the 300! I hope you guys keep um coming.!

  25. JetpackBlues says:

Thanks for the gift of #300 for the holiday. And for making 100 more episodes than Baywatch*.

*That’s not a quantity vs. quality observation. You guys are all quality.

  26. Phil says:

There are so many things to say about your recent podcast, Chris Hardwick and friends. Just want to say thanks for allowing me to indulge and Merry Fucking xXxmas.

  27. jPow says:

Congrats, Chris, Matt, Jonah, et al. It’s an AMAZING thing you have done! Chris, you are a source of inspiration to me, and you surely deserve this success. You clearly work your ass off, and you seem like you have a pretty good time doing it. Rock on, guys!

  28. Captain Fakename says:

Love this podcast so damn much. Started listening to it a couple months ago when I got the podcast app on my iPod and I have listened to almost every single episode already. I started college this year and haven’t made very many friends. Listening to your podcast makes eating alone every day far less depressing. But it’s probably a bit counterproductive too, as I doubt people want to hang out with the nerdy-looking kid sitting by himself and bursting into laughter every five minutes.

  29. erik2690 says:

Congrats on 300. Hope to hear hundreds more. So awesome.

  30. @Wildride: Naw, Tom’s “people getting punched” was more about NY v LA and people being accountable to one another for their actions, not commenters hurting anyone’s feelings. Also, it’s a comedy show. You post on here enough to know that. No one ACTUALLY wants anyone to get punched. Twas jokes!

Merry [holiday that applies to you], Comment Threads!

  31. Wildride says:

“You know what sucks? Bullies. I mean, unless someone has an opinion that hurts my feelings, in which case I sure would like it if some bully came along and shut him up with physical violence. Yeah — That would be sweet.” – This podcast

  32. Kenneth Kreisel a.k.a Kraken Attack says:

    Congratulations on the 300th episode.

God damn, is Tom Lennon the greatest, funniest person ever. I love the fact that Christian Bale is a big Reno 911 fan. I can’t wait for Knight Of Cups. That and Hellbaby, as I’ve been hearing about it for a while. Doing what makes you happy is absolutely true, although there is an argument that you will still have to do somethings that are not as satisfactory in order to fund those projects.

The funny thing about using your true name in the comments is, that yes it is admirable, but there are a lot of people with the same first name and last name, so sometimes using another identity like “Kraken Attack” or “Nerdist” is the only way to provide a unique enough name to deter misidentification. Hell, MarK Twain and many authors have used pen names and such to do that very thing, to the point that now more people know of Mark Twain than they will ever of Samuel L. Clemens. Tom Cruise isn’t even his real name, it’s Tom Mapother IV. It’s safe to say we clearly make our own identities and that as long you stand by those other identities, your integrity may never be in question.

    way to go, big c.

  34. Kevin says:

So what is the secret way to Disneyland?

  35. Aticus says:

Perfect host for the 300th. Merry happy everyone!

  36. Julio says:

    Some things never change, Ivan.

  37. Ivan says:

…and Matt still likes the Dave Matthews Band.

  38. -Diane. says:

The fans are a big reason I attend as many live shows as I do. It really is a community of awesome people. I am greatful for all the really wonderful human beings I get to call my friends.

I wouldn’t have a podcast if it wasn’t for the Nerdist pod! I love doing that pod and really appreciate my listeners. It’s pretty amazing when you can get other people to invest their time in something you put out into the world. So thank you for doing the podcast! Thank you for letting me borrow a subset of your fans! I’m sure DiHard isn’t the only podcast spawned by Nerdist.

I truly love Nerdist Industries. It’s been an honor and thrill watching this grow. (I started listening from ep. 3).

  39. Gert-Jan van Oosten says:

Congrats Chris. You have inspired me to start our own Dutch podcast. Have fun with # 300 and keep them coming!

  40. Ryan says:

    Congrats on 300.

Chris, I have a request for the show, being Col. Chris Hadfield.
He’s currently on the ISS, but has been doing a bunch on Reddit, including an AMA pre-launch and most recently, this:

  41. Ben Cox says:
