The gaming medium is a young creative avenue fighting for its credibility to be regarded as an intricate art form. This often means that the innovators who make video games possible aren’t often celebrated and recognized in the manner seen in various other mediums. It’s a shame– who doesn’t like to be honored for their creativity and hard work? I’d imagine anyone who makes a new IP that ends up in the living rooms of millions should receive a proper nod for bringing joy to so many.
Even though the Game Awards were thoroughly entertaining and went off with nearly 2 million viewers watching back in December, it’s arguable whether or not the ceremony properly honored the best of the best in 2014 video games.
On today’s Nerdist: Play, I talk about one of the award shows that gamers need to keep a closer eye on. Will the gaming industry ever have a ceremony that celebrates games in the same regard as the Oscars and Grammys celebrate movies and music? Let’s talk about it!
You can catch the D.I.C.E. Awards this Thursday at 7pm PST right here.
