It’s Halloween week, meaning there are tons of “Top 5″and Ttop 10” list sprinkled throughout the web, counting down the scariest games of all time. Without even looking, I can guarantee you that Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space 3 won’t make any of these list. Why is that, you ask? Because the popular consensus is that action games are not scary. How can a game creep you out if it makes you a killing machine and builds its gameplay around the fact that you can dispatch countless enemies in the blink of an eye? I don’t know the technical answer to this question, but what I do know is that that it’s possible.
Today’s episode of Nerdist: Play is on location at some creepy haunted house Jessica Chobot brought us to. On the show, I talk about a few action games that turned out to be ridiculously scary to me, contrary to popular belief. All while trying to contain myself in the spooky mess of a garden that I happen to waltz into.
I asked you guys on twitter what your favorite scary games were and here are some of the answers that didn’t make it into today’s episode:
@Malik4Play Beyond Two Souls now, Sanitarium for a blast from the past, and Ghost Master ironically & Bioshock Infinite actually scares me.
