There has been no shortage of celebration of Pokémon over the course of the last three months, and that’s only going to ramp up as we close in on the imminent release of Sun and Moon. While many people are taking a trip down memory lane and playing the re-released versions of Red, Blue, and Yellow to pass the time, fighting game fans have a brand new title to hold them over in the recently launched Pokkén Tournament.
This week’s Nerdist:Play is the first of a two-part Pokémon showdown between myself, Jessica Chobot, Dan Casey, and Kyle Hill. We’re all going into this game blind and engaging in an epic battle to determine who indeed is the very best… at least in the Nerdist offices. Check out the grand effort in button-mashing for yourself above, and make sure to stay tuned for the final match of the tournament this Friday.
What do you think of Pokkén Tournament? Is this the Pokémon fighting game you’ve been waiting for? Which Pokémon do you plan on using as your main competitor? Why is that “ice dog” so damn OP? Release your thoughts down in the comments below!
