Bad business practice or blessing in disguise? Many people would classify microtransactions as the former these days, especially in situations like with Mortal Kombat X. Who wants to pay full price for a game, only to turn around and have to pay more money? But considering these microtransactions are optional, do you think it’s fair for folks to scrutinize NetherRealm Studios for offering up something players could essentially ignore?
This week on Nerdist:Play, we’ll be discussing this infamous business practice and pondering whether there’s a place for them in the future of the gaming world. Do people give microtransactions a bad rep more often than they should? Are microtransactions sinister little cash-grab intrusions into our beloved games, instituted by the Lucifer himself? Tell the world why you’re mad–or don’t mind– microtransactions in the comments below, son!
