Without each and every one of you–our dear readers, our precious podcast-listeners, and our beloved video-watchers–we here at Nerdist would be nothing more than a collection of geeks arguing about the merits of the Star Wars prequels. Would that still be fun for us? …No, actually, it wouldn’t. But knowing that we have so many loyal fans who care just as much as we do about every bit of Game of Thrones news, who likewise revel in every adorable clip of a dog dressed like Ripley from Aliens, and who absolutely need to know exactly how many calories are in the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, that’s what makes what we do worth it. Heck, it makes our jobs the best in the whole nerd world.
And this past weekend, you really showed us the love, kicking our Nerdist YouTube channel subscriber base up to the two million mark.
This is what Dan looks like when he is happy.
To celebrate this milestone, we did exactly what we thought you would want from us: we made a very special video for you our fans. The video begins with a clip of our dear founder Chris Hardwick from way back in 2012 (a time so long ago there were only five The Fast and The Furious films, and Vin Diesel had yet to play Dungeons & Dragons with us), and runs through some of our most bizarre and definitely most entertaining clips, forming a montage dedicated to paying tribute to all of you for making it possible for us to have so much fun.
Plus you get to see our Editor-in-Chief Rachel Heine refuse to use a broom (classic Rachel), as well as watch Nerdist News‘ own Jessica Chobot and The Dan Cave‘s Dan Casey do what they really do best/worst: picking on Because Science host Kyle Hill.
Oh, and since it is a YouTube video we blew up some ping pong balls with liquid nitrogen.
Hey, you don’t get to two million subscribers without knowing what the people want! And you’ve made sure that we know that we are providing you with what you want: ridiculous nerd-related information and silliness. So from the bottom of our Sarlacc pit, we say thank you. We love you nerds. Now let’s get to three million so we can blow more stuff up.
But hey, why stop celebrating with just one video? We would love for you to pop into our comments section below and tell us what Nerdist video stands atop your all time favorites. Is it something weird Andrew Bowser did, or one of our song parodies? Could it be when a celeb stopped by to get goofy with us, like when Jack Black helped us out with an original Goosebumps song, or Lando Calrissian himself Billy Dee Williams sang karaoke at a famous cantina with Star Wars super fan Patton Oswalt behind the bar? Or maybe the video you love best involved the whole Nerdist team trying to murder each other. No, not that time, the other time.
Whatever it is, we want to know. Let’s keep this party going!
