Music Dispatch: Childish Gambino, Andre 3000, St Vincent, and More!

Hidi-ho neighborinos! Wow, I guess #EverySimpsonsEver is really rubbing off on my colloquialisms (Flanders trying to Flanderize the word colloquialism would be such a nightmare). Welcome back to our daily Music Dispatch wherein we cover all the necessary and unnecessary music news we absolutely loved in the past 24ish hours. Today we’ve got some Childish Gambino news as well as a very funny St. Vincent video wherein she has to guess what band she is listening to. Lets get to it!

Broken Bells released a a video for their track “Control” and it’s UFO-centric. Get ready to go down a rabbit hole of conspiracy videos after you watch this:

St. Vincent was challenged to identify music that influenced her within 30 seconds, and pretty much nailed most of the songs except for a few unfortunate mistakes: she didn’t know a song by the Polyphonic Spree, a band she was a member of before touring with Sufjan and eventually forging her identity as a solo artist. In her defense, the song was recorded before she joined the band according to her. The video is funny anyhow. [via Stereogum]

Zola Jesus released a stunning music video for her track “Dangerous Days”. Check out a 3D mapped version of Nika Danilova get her groove on and then watch as a crystal edifice version of her crumbles to the ground Ozymandias style.

Childish Gambino announced he’s got a new mixtape coming out via his Tumblr. It is titled STN MTN/KAUAI and it features Jaden Smith as “The Boy”, which means that the tape might run the risk of having way too much feaux-losophy . What about willow, though? Dat willow tho! No? Okay.

Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of the Killers, is planning to release a solo album in 2015 and is collaborating with superstar/ de rigueur producer Ariel Rechtshaid, who has produced for Vampire Weekend, Haim, Sky Ferreira, Usher and more. It will be interesting to see how Rechtshaid disrupts Flowers’ very established sound for this upcoming record. [via NME]

Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo may be the subject of a new Fox series, DeTour. Many outlets reported this after Variety broke the story yesterday, but Cuomo has responded that the pilot is still incipient.

Blonde Redhead and Interpol are streaming their new albums over at NPR First Listen.

Former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy is teaming up with IBM to make analgorithm that will turn the sounds of the U.S. Open into 400 hours of music. What? Yup. It will be recording weather changes, audience reactions, and matches. Murphy will also be releasing 14 remixes of the music that is generated. Quite frankly, I am surprised that Brian Eno didn’t beat him to this.

“Weird Al” is performing all three nights at The Simpsons Take The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

We premiered a song by Saint Pepsi and Ricky Eat Acid

Prince Gave Andre 3000 advice about having a successful comeback. He said, “Just give them the hits…then you can do whatever.” Here is to hoping we

Hopefully that Childish Gambino mixtape is better than the atrocity he called “Because the Internet”.  If not I’m sure Dan Harmon and Yahoo! have a place for you.
