The finale to last summer’s surprise hit Mr. Robot left a lot of questions unanswered. Actually most questions unanswered. After technically succeeding in his goal for hacker group fsociety to take down Evil Corp, Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) is left to pick up the pieces of his life, especially after the revelations involving fsociety’s mysterious leader (Christian Slater). Meanwhile, we have no idea what became of shady and sociopathic businessman Tyrell (Martin Wallström) nor really what will happen next for Angela (Portia Doubleday) now that she’s in the lion’s den of Evil Corp as it were.
We won’t have to wait much longer to find out because the second season of the USA program will air on July 13. Middle of the summer is your time to get all cerebral with America’s favorite mentally unstable cyber Robin Hood.
USA also released a teaser for the new season, though it doesn’t actually feature any new footage at all. Still a pretty cool return to the moody tone and atmosphere of Mr. Robot.
We’ve still got more work to do. That’s a pretty chilling statement. No show last year made us as consistently uneasy–in the best way–as Mr. Robot and we can only imagine that creator Sam Esmail’s next 10-episode season will heighten Elliot’s sense that all control is lost as we see a Evil Corp skate by culpability time and time again.
The new season will feature guest cast members Craig Robinson, Sandrine Holt, Luke Robertson, Joey Bada$$, and more, along with recurring actors B.D. Wong and Gloria Ruben. We truly can’t wait for July 13!
