Today’s Movie Morsels is looking pretty apocalyptic, with a new photo from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, a release date for the next World War Z film, and a new TV spot for Terminator Genisys. Fortunately, Channing Tatum is here to lighten things up and bring a smile to our faces with the latest poster for Magic Mike XXL. Plus, if you prefer to keep things dark, we’ve also got a new trailer for what’s sure to be the next Blumhouse horror: The Gallows.
We’ve heard a lot lately about the new mutants we’ll see in next summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. But what of the alumni at Xavier’s School for Gifted Young People? Director Bryan Singer has once again taken to Instagram to share a pic of Nicholas “Beast” Hoult and Jennifer “Mystique” Lawrence, who’ve arrived on the sequel’s set. The two will co-star with the returning James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters, and Lucas Till; as well as newbies Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Ben Hardy (Angel), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Lana Condor (Jubilee), Olivia Munn, and Oscar Isaac as the titular villain.
X-Men: Apocalypse arrives on May 27th.
World War Z
Good news, undead lovers! Paramount has finally given its long-planned sequel to World War Z a release date: June 9, 2017. Brad Pitt is back on board as producer and star, while Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) will direct from a script by Locke writer/director Steven Knight. The new release date is shared by 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four 2. Let the battle between Zombies and superheroes commence.
Because we you know you can’t see enough new Terminator Genisys footage before the film decends on July 1st, here’s the latest TV spot for the reboot/continuation/reimagining. Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor directs this fifth Terminator film, with Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as her Guardian/T-800. J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Matt Smith, Courtney B. Vance and Byung-Hun Lee co-star.
The world of theater and found-footage horror collide in Blumhouse’s The Gallows. Due out July 10th, the film has a new trailer online. The Gallows, written and directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, stars Cassidy Gifford, Ryan Shoos, Reese Mishler, and Pfeifer Brown.
