Is everyone enjoying their Memorial Day Weekend? If not, then hopefully today’s Movie Morsels will make it a little bit brighter. We’ve got a tasty new featurette on what, for many, has been the highlight of this weekend’s X-Men: Apocalypse — Quicksilver’s big hero moment! Plus, the latest photos from Star Trek Beyond, a first look at Dwayne Johnson in Fast 8, and more!
While many superhero fans may prefer the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Fox’s X-Men franchise, there’s one thing almost everyone must admit the X-Men films have given us that’s superior to the MCU equivalent: Quicksilver. The silver-haired speedster stole the show when he made his big-screen debut in X-Men: Days of Future Past. And though the latest merry mutant outing, this weekend’s X-Men: Apocalypse, has drawn considerably less enthusiastic review than its predecessor, many are arguing that Evan Peters’ character is once more the highlight. Now Fox has released a new featurette that takes us behind-the-scenes of the film’s big Quicksilver scene, as directed by Bryan Singer…
Star Trek Beyond
Another week begins and another batch of freshly cooked Star Trek goodies has arrived. Check out a gallery of pics from the latest big-screen Trek adventure at the bottom of today’s Movie Morsels! Directed by Justin Lin, Star Trek Beyond beams into theaters on July 22nd.
We’ve been hearing quite a bit lately from Vin Diesel on the next chapter in the Fast and Furious saga. But now we have our first look at Dwayne Johnson in the film, and a teasing description of where his character Hobbs is heading when he returns in Fast 8. I’m already digging his new railroad spike goatee…
EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: #HOBBS #F8 When you strip a man of all he has. All that’s important to him. You force him to return to his roots.. and sometimes that’s a very dangerous and twisted place. If I was going to return for another FAST & FURIOUS I wanted to come in and disrupt the franchise in a cool way that got fans fired up and their blood pumping to see a new version of Hobbs and his “Daddy’s gotta go to work” mentality and set the table in a cool way for where the character goes in the future. Maybe it’s a spinoff movie. Maybe it’s more #FF movies. Or hell maybe Hobbs just gets on his motorcycle and rides off into the sunset never to be seen again. Either way, I’ve had a solid first week of shooting, good to be back with the ohana, good to work again w/ my bud and director F. Gary Gray and our home studio of UNIVERSAL, as always have been the best partners to me and my #SevenBucksProds team. Most importantly… you guys around the world will really dig this new version of the role, ’cause as we always say, disrupters dent the universe. #Hobbs #TwistedRoots #1Disrupter #1Savage #F8
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Want more photos? Okay–director Luc Besson is sharing some new ones on Facebook from his upcoming science-fiction epic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, including a pic of the film’s two stars–Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan–in the cockpit of their characters’ spaceship Intruder. Plus, a good look at Clive Owen on the set of the French comic adaptation…
Maze Runner: The Death Cure
Finally today… After announcing that the film was postponed indefinitely due to star Dylan O’Brien’s on-set accident, Fox has finally announced a new release date for its third Maze Runner movie. Maze Runner: The Death Cure will now open on January 12, 2018, almost a year after its original release date of February 17, 2017.
