Happy New Year, everyone! To help you get through your first hangover of 2015 we’ve got a whole lotta warm and cuddly news in today’s Movie Morsels. So no need to roll out of bed or off that couch just yet. Not when you can snuggle up with the latest images from Avengers: Age of Ultron (in which Vision looks even more kick-ass), director Paul Feig’s plans for his Ghostbusters reboot, and a special holiday-themed international spot for Disney’s live-action Cinderella!
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Following up on the recently released Avengers: Age of Ultron art featuring Vision and Ultron, even more images of the android Avenger have arrived online, as well as of his insane creator Ultron, the Hulkbuster armor, and the Black Widow! The second Avengers film rocks our world on May 1, 2015.
We here at Movie Morsels aren’t too proud to admit that when we first saw Ghostbusters back in ’84, it scared the bejeezus out of us! Sure we were wee tykes, but it’s comforting nonetheless to know that, whatever he has planned for his rebooted Ghostbusters director Paul Feig gets that the original film’s mix of humor and horror accounts for a large part of its success. Speaking with Empire, the filmmaker revealed that he and Bridesmaids screenwriter Katie Dipold are set on making this Ghostbusters “scarier than the original.” As for how many folks we’ll see bustin’ ghosts in his film, Feig added, “Right now, honestly, there could be 50 Ghostbusters.” Regarding its rating, Feig said the film will have a PG-13 rating in order for it to reach “the biggest number of people.” While Feig would like his film to be R-rated, he states that, like the film we all know and love, it doesn’t require “that level of swearing.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2
While we’ll have to wait a little longer for the first trailer to arrive for the next and final installment in the Hunger Games saga, Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Julianne Moore appear in a new PSA about the still-in-the-news Ebola virus.
Director Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation of Disney’s beloved animated classic Cinderella — starring Cate Blanchett, Downton Abbey‘s Lily James and Game of Thrones‘ Richard Madden — wishes its way into theaters on March 13, 2015. But you don’t need a fairy godmother to see the film’s New Year’s Eve international “Countdown” spot, not when we’ve already heard your bibbidi-bobbidi-boos!
Into the Woods
While we’re talking Disney and fairy tales… Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway classic Into the Woods is winning a whole new audience thanks to Rob Marshall’s film adaptation. Disney’s just released a new behind-the-scenes video, looking at the movie’s sure-to-be-Oscar-nominated costumes, hairstyling, and makeup. Check it out below!
And speaking of Oscars, Laika’s latest stop-motion dark fantasy The Boxtrolls is likely to earn a nom in the animated feature category. So Focus Features is wisely sharing its terrific end credits with the world, offering a time-lapse-photography look at the painstaking work that went into creating the film’s titular critters…
