Happy Hump Day, Morselers! Today we’ve got word on what our favorite mutant speedster is up to in X-Men: Apocalypse, straight from the mouth of the actor who plays him. Plus, could Jennifer Lawrence be Captain Marvel?! Also, the trailer for Kung Fu Panda 3, exciting casting announcements for Blazing Samurai, a new Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 clip, a new Krampus poster, and more!
It looks like Quicksilver has a very cool character arc in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Actor Evan Peters explains:
“It’s the biggest X-Men film. It’s about the apocalypse, so the scope of the film is huge… But the story is that my character is searching for his father and wants to find him. It starts there and then he jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole Apocalypse madness: He tries to stop him from destroying the world.”
Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor, and Ben Hardy, X-Men: Apocalypse lands on May 27, 2016.
While it looks like Jennifer Lawrence will be done with her role of Mystique now that the trilogy of X-Men films that began with First Class is concluding, the actress isn’t ruling out the possibility of joining Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now Comic Book Resources is claiming she’s a candidate for the title role in the MCU’s first female-led solo film, Captain Marvel. When asked by the website if she’d like to play in the same sandbox as Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt, the actress replied, “Well, yes! I would love to play in a sandbox with those two!” Hmmm…
Hotel Transylvania 3
Now that Hotel Transylvania 2 has proved a success at the box office, what’s next for Vlad and his clan of creatures? Why Hotel Transylvania 3 of course! The third film in the series will arrive on September 22, 2018. There’s no official word yet on which voice actors will return, or if Genndy Tartakovsky will again take the helm.
Kung Fu Panda 3
It’s time to get your kicks with the Kung Fu Panda 3 trailer! The third film in Sony’s lucrative franchise is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni, and features the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson, and J. K. Simmons. It releases on January 29, 2016.
And speaking of martial arts and animation, Blazing Samurai, an animated twist on Mel Brooks’ western spoof Blazing Saddles, has just nabbed a slew of new voice talent. Directed by Chris Bailey (Alvin And The Chipmunks) and Mark Koetsier (Kung Fu Panda). Samuel L. Jackson will headline a cast that includes Michael Cera, Mel Brooks, George Takei, Gabriel Iglesias, Aasif Mandvi, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Sandra Tsing Loh, Mel B., and “Heavenly” Joy Jerkins.
Blazing Samurai arrives August 4, 2017.
Just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean the holiday chills are over this year. No sir! Check out the latest poster for Krampus, directed by Trick ‘r Treat helmer Michael Dougherty. Starring Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Emjay Anthony, Stefania Lavie Owen, and Krista Stadler, the chiller arrives on December 4th.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2
The latest clip from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 features Katniss and a very broken Peeta. The fourth and final Hunger Games film bows on November 20, and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Donald Sutherland.
Last but not least today, Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard will star in director Duncan Jones’ next sci-fi thriller Mute.
According to The Wrap, the film takes place 40 years from now in Berlin, Germany and follows a mute bartender (Skarsgard), who is searching for a missing girl. His missing persons case takes him into the depths of Berlin’s underworld, and his only clue seems to be a pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd). The only problem is that he can’t tell if they’re here to help him or hurt him.
