Slowly but surely the weather is warming up, and so are the marketing campaigns for a whole bunch of upcoming blockbusters. But amidst all the hype there’s also room for charity, as a new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story video demonstrates… Also in today’s Movie Morsels, we have the latest on Ant-Man and the Wasp, X-Men: Apocalypse, Ready Player One, and much more!
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Hot on the heels of this week’s release of the first-ever trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes a new Omaze video with a special message from star Felicity Jones about Force for Change, which explains how you could win an autographed Rogue One stormtrooper helmet. Feast your eyes on the awesomeness…
Ant-Man and the Wasp
In addition to the ginormous cast and crew of Captain America: Civil War, plenty of other Marvel Studios superstars walked down the red carpet on Hollywood Boulevard at the film’s world premiere this week. Among the assembled dignitaries was Ant-Man director Peyton Reed, who had a few enticing words to say about Ant-Man and the Wasp — and how we’ll see things in the sequel that we haven’t seen in any other Marvel movie to date…
With each new character poster we’ve seen from X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest chapter in Bryan Singer’s mutant film saga has looked better and better. Now we’ve got the official IMAX poster for the upcoming release, featuring the assembled students of Xavier’s School for Gifted Young People as well as their arch-foes Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen. And, as per usual with IMAX posters, it offers us the film’s most vibrant promotional image yet…
Ready Player One
Actor Mark Rylance was the most talked about part of Steven Spielberg’s recent Bridge of Spies, earning an Oscar for his performance as a Russian operative used as a bargaining chip at the height of the Cold War. Now Spielberg is reuniting with the performer for his next project, the eagerly awaited adaptation of the bestselling science-fiction novel Ready Player One…
It’s a great time to be alive if you’re a fan of Disney remakes. Last year’s Cinderella kicked a surprising amount of ass, the new Jungle Book is garnering rave reviews, and now we hear that the studio is so satisfied with its upcoming remake of 1977’s Pete’s Dragon that it’s already enlisted the services of helmer David Lowery to direct and co-write a remake of Peter Pan. Now, I understand that many will feel they need another film version of Peter Pan like they need a hole in the head. But aside from Disney’s own 1950s animated favorite (which is still a lot of fun if one can get past the Native American stereotypes), there really hasn’t been a definitive live-action version of J.M. Barrie’s classic play and the beloved children’s novel it inspired.
The Angry Birds Movie
Finally today… Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the Angry Birds will soon be flocking to your local multiplex in the form of Sony’s The Angry Birds Movie. So it’s probably best to just suck it up and get your first glimpse of the film’s latest poster now…
