Another Memorial Day Weekend has come and gone. But hey, summer’s here and the weather is just right… for a new edition for Movie Morsels! Today we have three very cool new character posters from Star Trek Beyond, three new videos from the set of Fast 8, the latest on Justice League, and more.
Star Trek Beyond
I remain firm in my belief that more of today’s movie posters should be illustrated instead of Photoshopped. That being said, however, the official posters for Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond have been as good as any I’ve seen these days from a major studio. And the latest batch is no exception. Zoe Saldana’s Uhura, Simon Pegg’s Scotty, and John Cho’s Sulu get the royal treatment this time, each of them looking sharp as hell alongside Krall’s invasion force and a blazing Starfleet delta shield insignia…
Fast 8 must surely be the most fan-friendly Fast and the Furious movie of all. Especially if you live in Cuba, where it’s the first major Hollywood film to shoot. To see what I’m talking about, check out the latest behind-the-scenes videos from eighth film in Universal’s blockbuster franchise (and the first to enter production after the tragic death of star Paul Walker). The first shows the cast assembled before the cameras, while two additional videos take to the streets of Cuba, where actors Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez get chummy with the locals…
Shane Black has been one busy bee these days. What with promoting his latest film The Nice Guys, prepping The Predator, and developing his pulp adaptation Doc Savage (to which Dwayne Johnson has just signed on). But the writer-director looks to be getting just a little busier still, since Fox has announced it’s moved up the official release date for The Predator from March 12, 2018 to February 9, 2018… The studio also announced that Robert Rodriguez’s manga adaptation Battle Angel Alita—produced by James Cameron and set to star Maze Runner‘s Rosa Salazar—will land on July 20, 2018.
Jesse Eisenberg spent his Memorial Day Weekend at the MCM Comic Con in London, where he told the assembled crowd that, while it’s not yet official, he is indeed in talks to return to his Batman v Superman role of Lex Luthor in the follow-up film Justice League. You can hear Eisenberg’s remarks in the video below…
The Fundamentals of Caring
Finally today… From Wet Hot American Summer to Ant-Man, it takes a hard and unfeeling heart indeed not to like the immensely likable Paul Rudd. So even though Rudd’s new indie film The Fundamentals of Caring sees him playing a much heavier role than usual—that of an emotionally damaged caregiver to a young man with muscular dystrophy—there’s a good chance the movie will prove just as enjoyable as his broader comedies. It arrives on Netflix this weekend, but you can view the trailer for Fundamentals of Caring now…
