As was previously posted by Perry, the BBC has announced that the next eight episodes of Doctor Who will air starting March 30th. The show hasn’t had eight consecutive weeks of episodes since back in 2010. Been too long. There is, however, more news about 2013’s Doctor Who action.
A schedule update was revealed at the 2013 London Toy Fair. The unofficial site doctorwhotv.co.uk posted a picture of a banner from BBC Worldwide stating that the 50th Anniversary would consist of a single 60-minute special following the 90-minute docudrama An Adventure in Time and Space, which chronicles the creation of the series back in 1963. That special is written by Mark Gatiss and, though it hasn’t been announced, the 50th Anniversary special will no doubt be written by The Moff. There will also be eleven 25-minute specials which will air once a month, presumably about each Doctor. We would definitely like to see more than simply that to commemorate the milestone, and there’s also nothing there about a Christmas special for 2013. Let’s hope they just didn’t post it because it was a given. More on this when we have more.
And finally, people in L.A. this weekend, come down to the Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics on Saturday, January 26th, at 2:00PM for a FREE screening of the very first Doctor Who story ever, “An Unearthly Child.” As always, there will be trivia and giveaways which are always awesome stuff. It’s hosted by me and is 100% no charge. Click on this link to RSVP. Hope to see everyone there!
