Monday night brought out the hand gestures and sass, and I’m not even referencing the coverage of the Oscars! Paul F. Tompkins brought two of his No, You Shut Up! pals to the podiums. Star Schlessinger and Hot Dog were hilarious even if they can’t move their arms. They talked food art, children’s programming, and Hollywood’s creepy uncle, John Travolta. And then Paul and the squirrel fought.
Tuesday got odd, and by “odd” I mean Odd Coupley. Yvette Nicole Brown, Lindsay Sloane and Tom Lennon are all starring on the new show The Odd Couple and were all on @midnight on Tuesday night. Theater PR photos had their time in the spotlight, and we learned exactly what kind of YouTube videos really get Sloane and Lennon – ehm – excited. There were also some great #Roommatesin5Words and some TED Talks for Kids.
There was so much great internet news on Wednesday that it was hard to pick where to start. There were Power Rangers! Lady Gaga told an American Horror Story! And then there was a Disney-themed vibrator. Yeah. That happened. Chris had Michael Ian Black, Clarke Duke and Kumail Nanjiani #MakeASongBritish in honor of Madonna‘s epic fall. (If you haven’t seen it yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?)
On Thursday night Kate Micucci, TJ Miller and Brandon Johnson did their best to #RuinAFairyTale. Someone gave Chris a robot which he promptly drove off his podium and probably started the robot uprising as a result. We’ll all thank him later. There were inopportune moments of pausing, serious advice about dating young Christian women, and dreams of Bollywood.
If you haven’t followed @midnight on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram, well we just don’t know how to help you. We’ll be back next week with another recap, which we are seriously hoping will include some jokes about #thedress.
