It’s awards season in Hollywood, and trust you me, the crew at @midnight are not going to let a single meme-worthy moment pass without commentary!
John Hodgman, Marc Maron and Jen Kirkman hit the stage on Monday night. Only 24 hours before, we had been glued to our televisions watching the stars of film and television accept Golden Globes, and the episode started off with a nice little recap of every perfect moment from Benedict Cumberbatch to Prince. After talking Hollywood, they moved to the next most logical topic: college football. #MoreAccurateMascots was born, and it was a doozy. And in the grand tradition of the internet, here are some GIF mash-ups for you.
Tuesday gave us Grace Helbig, Hari Kondabolu, and Doug Benson talking Amazon series and Italy. They also talked #BabyRappers because of course they did. Uber drivers are an important new aspect of metropolitan communities these days, and thus they are completely and totally up for mockery on the show. Why not? All the weird things that happen in the back of Ubers are on Twitter anyways!
Chris began Wednesday with an impassioned speech on nipple censorship. Rob Riggle, Nick Swardson, Ari Shaffir were in strong agreement. #BiggerStars required some creativity but they had plenty of inspiration what with Oscar nominees on the horizon and the Golden Globes only just past. #PointsMe also made its first appearance as content, and we look forward to seeing some fans make their way to the @midnight podiums in the coming months. But for now, here’s that great speech about boobs:
The week finished up with the hilarious Whitney Cummings, David Koechner, and Jeffrey Ross joined Chris to discuss the very serious and not at all hilarious presence of government surveillance agencies on social media. Some solid laughs were had over #ElderlyTVShows. Nothing is better than old people. Politics remained a theme for the night with some review of election tattoos and bad decisions. And then Rainn Wilson showed up.
The show moves back to its regular time next week at…midnight. As always, make sure you’re following @midnight on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram. There are #HashtagWar roundups, behind the scenes photos and fun video content for you to enjoy!
