Hello readers! It was a short week this week for @midnight, due to the holiday on Monday, but that means Chris and the guests had to really kick it up a notch to make three nights as funny as four. This week saw several returning guests and even saw Our Fearless Leader challenge a Hollywood icon for a Guinness World Record. Let’s take a look at the week and some of the highlights.
Tuesday was our Monday for the show and Mary Lynn Rajskub, Dave Anthony, and Marc Maron kicked the week off. They enlightened us with their renditions of Kylie Jenner giving a TEDTalk on C-Trails, Chris used cute animals to break the news of how bad the Time Warner/Charter merger could be for everyone else, and #HashtagWars saw our guests offering #5WordWeddingToasts for the new happy couple of this Memorial Day Weekend. A true highlight of the episode came in the form of a new game called Loco Police Scanner in which the guest were asked to explain police scanner stories people have posted to Twitter.
Wednesday brought an all-star show with Tom Lennon, Nathsha Leggero, and Doug Benson providing two days’ worth of entertainment in only thirty minutes of show. Rapid Refresh brought us some wonderful Spotify playlists that Starbucks patrons would not want to hear while buying coffee, Doug stumbled his way through the #HashtagWars of #ClickBaitAMovie, having no idea how the game was meant to be played. Somehow Doug managed to pull ahead in points and gain an amazing lead as the trio guessed whether or not a picture was of a person who was sunburned, and gave advice to cringe worthy video resumes. Finally the gang gets to ask their most important questions to Charlie Charlie in their own Reddit AMA.
Finally, on Thursday Chris welcomed Chris D’elia, Nick Swardson, and Whitney Cummings to round out this truncated week. This episode was all-around one of the funniest with our guests battling it out to see who could come up with the best names for #DadRappers in #HashtagWars, offering explanations for terrible airline passangers, and determining if a video would end in a high five or someone being left hanging. Finally the group came up with Click Bait article titles meant specifically to anger Jack White after he went on a tirade about them. Not only did it offer laughs, but it also may have offered a glimpse into the fantasies of Chris D’elia.
Finally, we could not recap this week without touching on a monumental event in the life and times of @midnight. Over the previous weekend, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson set a world record for the most selfies taken in three minutes at the premiere of his new movie San Andreas. Not one to be outdone in the terms of millenial culture, Chris Hardwick issues a challenge to beat The Rock’s record after only a day of its establishment. Take a look at Chris’s attempt to get more than 105 selfies in three minutes.
That’s all for @midnight this week. Be sure to tune Monday-Thursday for more @midnight and be sure to check in every weekend if you miss anything.
