@midnight started out with a bang this week. And when we say “bang” we mean the sweet, sweet sound of a money being shot into the air by a specially crafted money gun. That’s right. Someone is kickstarting a money gun.
In other news from the internet, there’s a new social network that, for a second there, our fearless leader worried he might have to come up with a new pseudo-identity for. There may have even been a moment of begging on Monday night’s show. But don’t worry, Internet! By Tuesday, the kind soul who took the handle “Nerdist” on Ello had relinquished it. Beyond that very important news, Chris, Doug Benson, Hari Kondabolu and Kyle Kinane honored the true scion we all log in to worship: Nicolas Cage.
Tuesday gave us this stellar GIF:
Aside from the stellar Bono comparison, Tuesday night also remembered that it’s that time of year again when all the kids go back to college, so Chris, Adam, Mike and Heather all made sure those kids had the perfect college clubs to look for at the activity fairs happening across the country as we type this.
Tom Lennon returned (and left) in triumph from another round behind the podiums this week. He had some fierce competition in Cameron Esposito and Daniel Sloss, but he remained exultant no matter how many times Chris told the crowd he did not need the cheering. Again, the fabulous writers on @midnight kept things relevant to the news with their games. We have never heard anyone compare Ebola to Mickey Mouse before and now we can’t stop thinking about all the ear worms that come from the Magic Kingdom.
Thursday was a trifecta of gingers on the @midnight panel. Emily Heller joined Rhys Darby and Tim Minchin for #badthemeparks and the celebration of a Disney birthday. The birthday party entertainment was… questionable, but wow, can Minnie dance! We can’t resist the most epic tattoos we have ever seen on TV though, so here’s a clip!
If you want to keep up with all the highlights on @midnight even on the weekends, make sure you’re following the show on Twitter (because #hashtags), Tumblr, Facebook, and Instagram. They share some excellent hashtag wrap ups the morning after, and behind the scenes photos for your eyeballs.
