The internet brought the weird for this week’s @midnight contestants and we have all the catch-up you need to prove to your friends that you don’t go to bed before late night TV.
Tinder introduced a “premium” edition and Jen Kirkman, Baratunde Thurston and Doug Benson know exactly what features they are willing to pay for in the first new episode of @midnight this week. #HellishFood allowed our comic guests to play with all the evil puns in their repertoire. Then there were old people, and everybody fell in love with the skateboarding grandpa… especially Jen Kirkman.
Kevin Smith joined the Nerdist’s own Jessica Chobot and Matt Mira on the show on Tuesday night. They discussed 8-bit shower simulators, #TechTVShows, Matt’s recent total and complete obsession with Chappie, and how Kevin trolled Chris’s mom on Twitter. To be honest, Matt really brought obsession to the table with themed answers that revolved around either Chappie or breadsticks. Chris was not (yes he was) entertained.
Esther Povitsky, Neal Brennan, and Bryan Callen took the podiums on Wednesday night and immediately created Ben & Jerry’s next breakout flavors infused with weed. #WorstBossin5Words had everyone thinking their day jobs were actually pretty good, right? There was a thing with naming rappers and Chris blacked out for a second. And did you know you can get underwear on Etsy?
Wednesday night, Chris also showed a clip of our latest Nerdist Presents video, “Blank Page!” It’s George R.R. Martin like you’ve never seen him before… Check out the full version below:
Nick Thune, Heather Anne Campbell and Trevor Moore rounded out the week on Thursday night. #LesserKnownArtists reminded us that not every creation is worthy of God’s man cave, and the contestants shamed some things together… including a chicken and a spider. And per usual, questions were asked about the sanity of people who make websites on the internet.
