@midnight Debuts Tonight On Comedy Central, and Here’s A Sneak Peek

LogoAtMidnightTonight is the premiere of @midnight, the new show on Comedy Central hosted by Chris Hardwick that tests your pop culture savvy by… well, here’s a clip of some game play that will show you how it works, and make you laugh, too:

Yes, it’s all about social media and comedy and making fun, and sense, of what’s happening in the world. And here are Chris and co-producer Thomas Lennon to talk about the show and explain the Internet using Ghostbusters 2:

As we’ve seen in the Comedy Central press release:
In a world where Tweets, Vines, GIFs, Instagrams and Facebook posts reign supreme, Chris Hardwick leads viewers down the ultimate internet wormhole in Comedy Central’s new daily, late-night comedy competition, @midnight. Produced by Funny Or Die, a rotating lineup of today’s top comedians will battle nightly to determine who has the funniest take on the day’s social media and pop culture happenings and wear the crown of funniest person on Earth (for the next 23 ½ hours).

Tonight’s panel includes Doug Benson, Natasha Leggero, and Kumail Nanjiani. On Tuesday, it’s Kurt Braunohler and Andy Daly. Wednesday, look for James Adomian and June Diane Raphael. And on Thursday, Tom Lennon and Kyle Kinane give it a shot. You should also follow the show’s Tumblr and, of course, the Twitter account.

So, watch it, Monday through Thursday nights at… yes, Midnight ET, right after The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

Comments

  1. The complete (21:15) first episode is now online at Comedy Central (at least from Germany :-)).

  2. Ryan says:

I didn’t know how to feel about it for the first five minutes, but by the end I was delighted. Seriously – great first episode Chris.

The only thing I didn’t think went over well was the second to last game, where everyone has to mash their button to throw down as many hashtags as they could. Natasha got skipped over maybe 8 times as it bounced between Doug and Kumail, which seemed a little unfair, even though I like the idea of a speed round.

I think how quick and open the contestants are will dictate how well episodes go. Doug was my favorite specifically because he kept jumping in.

  3. Jon says:

Everytime I see adds for this show it just reminds me that Pete Holmes show is starting soon and how much I want to see it.

  4. Amy says:

Oh, now that does help, thanks!

  5. erik2690 says:

The whole show will be on Hulu if that helps people. Maybe on Comedy Central website as well.

  6. JetpackBlues says:

    I… suddenly want a NyQuil® smoothie.

I’ve got it DVRed too, programmed from my phone because I’m a nerd and because I can. And I’m fully prepared to watch, point and laugh Tuesday through Friday when I get in front of the TV after work.

@Theresa: You’re latitudinally above us, so you should be able to see it from all the way up there atop America’s hat. Oh, you meant sneak PEEK. Yea, CC’s web content is U.S. only.

@Amy: There will be random, short clips of the show on CC’s website. But you won’t get the whole burrito.

  7. Amy says:

So, is there any way for those of us without cable to watch?

  8. NYCrex says:

Looks like fun. Have the DVR set already (sorry, can’t get by on 5.5 hours of sleep – hope they count DVR ratings!) Hope you get Greg Proops on there. He is one quick wit.

  9. Kristoffer says:

This show is going to be big + it’s on straight after colbert. Convenient!

  10. Gary Bravender says:

    Buffering…. Buffering…..Buffering… ….. ….

  11. Theresa 1701 says:

I hate that in Canada I can’t see the video sneak peak! You’d think I lived in another country or something;-) Will still watch the show, in spite of not having any spoilers!
