Congratulations are in heavy order for everyone’s favorite nerd overlord, Chris Hardwick, who pulled the big time TV network equivalent of a Tag Team Thursday when Comedy Central gave him a fourth season renewal for @midnight. Points! Points for everyone!
Everyone’s favorite comedic rundown on the internet’s best moments, @midnight was recently upgraded to the 11:30pm slot following the cancellation of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, (which we promise still works with the title of the show because it ends at 12 midnight, technically).
In a quote from Comedy Central’s announcement, Hardwick explained, “I LOVE making @midnight and we will continue to innovate inappropriate jokes about social media and pop culture in the late-night landscape. I’m proud to get to work with this amazing team for another year, and hopefully beyond!”
It’s an exciting time for Hardwick, who—in addition to his work on @midnight, hosts the too-popular-for-this-world aftershow for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, Talking Dead—recently had his new game show series with LeBron James, The Wall, picked up at NBC.
“We are really pleased with how Chris and team have opened the aperture of @midnight to cover more of the socially and politically relevant topics of the day,” explained Comedy Central’s president, Kent Alterman, “and I defy anyone to find a show with a higher joke-per-minute ratio.”
