Since 2012, the dynamic duo of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have been slinging gold plated nuggets of comedy gold on their sketch comedy show, and they never ask for anything more than laughs in return. However, over the years, we’ve chose to respond not with just laughs, but also massive fanaticism. These guys just get comedy, and they get the art of story and structure… even in something like their famous East vs. West sketch. Sure, it may seem like a joke about the names of football players, but they’re also tales of escalation.
Every name that appears is just slightly more insane than the last, until it all peaks with something so outlandish that we almost want it to be real. The latest version of the bit is no exception:
While it may seem surprising that Comedy Central is attempting to tap into the Super Bowl crowd with a Key & Peele special, if there’s anyone we want to see take on the most watched television event of the year, it’s the duo that made A. A Ron a thing.
We still don’t know what other skits we’ll be getting from the episode when it airs later this week, but no matter what, we’re in. In fact, if it does prove successful, we would love to see more one-offs like this. How about Key & Peele Oscars Special? Or a Key & Peele Comic-Con Special? Oh, what about Key & Peele July 4th Special? Look, what we’re saying is, we need more Key & Peele on our television screens. Is that too much to ask?
The Key & Peele Super Bowl Special airs this Friday at 10/9c on Comedy Central.
