Deadline was the first to report that Millar and Capullo are teaming up for Reborn, a new Millarworld miniseries that doesn’t currently have a publisher. But that will probably change very soon.
Along with the announcement came this cover image by Capullo, which depicts Bonnie Black, an 80-year old woman who finds herself in a new 25-year old body after she passes away. Bonnie also discovers that she’s been “reborn” into a new world that is “as real and hard as where we live now, but filled with the most amazing fantasy landscapes, jaw-dropping creatures and a battle raging between good and evil.”
Bonnie encounters many of her deceased loved ones in this new land, but her husband is not one of them. Therefore, the series will follow Bonnie’s quest as she attempts to find “the lost love of her life.” It’s unknown if Reborn will have any ties to the other Millarworld books, but Millar usually comes up with connections between his properties, even if it’s long after the titles came out.
Millar has a strong track record of getting his comics adapted as films, including Wanted, Kingsman, and Kick-Ass. So it should be no surprise to hear that Reborn is already generating interest from Hollywood as both a film and a potential television series.
“The idea is always to create the project and then find the right producer for it,” said Millar while speaking with Deadline. “We have an idea of who would be good for this one. It must be someone who will understand the story and is passionate about bringing our vision to the screen.”
Reborn #1 will be released in October.
