You know that pen-spinning thing that all the coolest characters in movies can do so flawlessly? Of course you do—there’s not a person out there that hasn’t attempted it at some point. If you’re anything like us, you’ve maybe accomplished the spin once or twice only to have your dreams dashed when you couldn’t replicate that success. Well, knowing we’ll continue to fail with that level of object manipulation, it’s safe to say that mimicking the skills in the video above are way out of our grasp (puns!).
Manipulating several (presumably) lightweight props, artist Ouka’s skills seem absolutely otherworldly. Creating optical illusions by moving the rings and other props with impeccable precision as if they were mounted to some invisible steady structure. The video was featured on a recent posting by Sploid and produced by YouTube’s Kuma Films who are making a name for themselves with videos of incredibly unique performers from around the world. Just imagine the years of practice involved in developing the steady hands and . Watch closely at Ouka’s hands for the dizzying movement of his fingers with the nearly unwavering steadiness of arms that make these illusions possible.
A word of caution. Should you decide to dive deeper into Kuma Films’ library of videos, you’ll come out the other end with your mind blown and with an unbelievable desire to start practicing your own unique performance art. Take, for instance, the lightning fast spinning of this man’s “Companion Cube” or this guy’s manipulation of a gizmo (and probable sex toy) called “Monkey Knuckles.”
