Still weeping for the loss of Prince Oberyn Martell, Game of Thrones fans? Tyrion’s dashing would-be champion may be gone from us, but his legacy lives on… Entertainment Weekly reports that the show’s fifth season will take us to Dorne, the homeland of the Red Viper.
Producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss have told EW that, “There will be Dorne, and we’re excited about it. Who wouldn’t want to hang out in Dorne? They have admirable values and priorities. And have you seen Oberyn’s coat?” The showrunners confirm that the fifth season (of a proposed seven) will draw heavily from books 4 and 5 (A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons) of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire.
According to Variety, “Oberyn’s Sand Snakes — his illegitimate daughters Obara, Nymeria and Tyene — brother Prince Doran Martell, youngest son Prince Trystane Martell and personal bodyguard Areo Hotah will be among the new characters populating the hottest region of Westeros.”
