This morning, Adult Swim announced the cast for the pilot episode of Team Unicorn Action Fun Hour! (that’s their exclamation point, I’ll save mine for later). The live-action/animated series is going before cameras with the ladies of Team Unicorn who will be playing both their live and animated counterparts. Think of it as a more adult version of Aquabats Supershow. There might be cussin’ and stuff, making Team Unicorn – previously a viral video phenomenon – a potential steady thing on Adult Swim.
Clare Grant, Rileah Vanderbilt, Milynn Sarley, and Alison Haislip will make up the members of Team Unicorn, while Tara Strong will play Billy, the little boy able to summon them. Glee‘s Jane Lynch and Alan Tudyk will voice the villainess Dark Puba and her sidekick, Chubby Cherub with Kevin Shinick serving as the narrator.
From Adult Swim:
“Dan Milano (Greg the Bunny) wrote the pilot, a modern twist on Saturday morning-style cartoon/live action hybrid shows but Team Unicorn is definitely for adults. The Team Unicorn Saturday Action Fun Hour! explores the adventures of the four mythical unicorn heroines who masquerade as human girls. Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich serve as executive producers for Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.”
Seth Green will direct the pilot, although as of this writing, Adult Swim hasn’t provided details about when it will air.
If it makes its debut by the end of this year, Team Unicorn Action Fun Hour! will join other freshman 2014 programming like Rick and Morty, Mike Tyson Mysteries, King Star Kings, and Ghostbag.
