As we get nearer to the second Course of the Force lightsaber relay taking place July 9th through 16th along the California coast from Skywalker Ranch to San Diego, there’s a lot of activity going on behind the scenes to get things ready. Among the things being done is work on the logistics of arranging the path of the relay, which is how Course of the Force founder and Nerdist Industries CEO Peter Levin ended up wielding a lightsaber in front of the Mayor and City Council of Malibu Monday night. Peter was there to make a presentation about the Course to the Council, and, well, if you’re gonna discuss the Force, there will be lightsabers. And I can’t pass up the opportunity to show pictures of our CEO with a lightsaber at a City Council meeting. Here’s another picture from the momentous occasion:
Peter told me, “We were warmly received within the majestic confines of Malibu City Hall and we’re working diligently with them to find creative ways to include Malibu in the programming of the 2013 Course of the Force.” That’s very cool, and in the meantime, it’s a reminder that you should be signing up now to run in this year’s Course of the Force. In case you need a refresher, it’s a lightsaber relay that this year will go from Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, north of San Francisco, on July 9th to San Diego, in time to arrive just ahead of Comic-Con International: San Diego on July 16th. Runners are encouraged to wear Star Wars-themed costumes, and there are “Conivals” along the way, celebrations with music and fun. It’s all to raise funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and since last year’s was a lot of fun and raised a lot of money to help make many children’s wishes come true, this year’s should be even better. You can find all the information you need and regular updates at the Course of the Force website and via Twitter, Facebook, and Google+, and you can click here to register. It’s going to be another great one, and we want to see you there….
