Thanks to some leaked promo art from super scooper El Mayimbe, we are starting to get a pretty good idea of just how Wonder Woman is going to appear in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie. Ok, so you’re probably thinking, “But didn’t we already know what she’s going to look like?? We saw a pic of Gal Gadot in costume at Comic-Con last year?” Well, yeah, but that early pic had almost all of the colors desaturated, so Princess Diana looked more like Xena: Warrior Princess due to her lack of classic colors. But these promo pics, probably made to appear on the side of boxes of fruit roll ups and kids’ backpacks and whatnot, probably give you a better idea of what Wonder Woman will look like in the actual movie. Here’s the latest pic, with Diana Prince striking her famous “crossing the gauntlets” pose, ready to deflect some bullets.
So what do we think of these new pics? Well, the colors show through a lot more than in the originally released image of Gal Gadot from last summer (Warner Bros./DC, you don’t need to be afraid of color! We live in a world where the Vision is almost everyone’s favorite part of the latest Avengers movie, and he’s colored like a parrot!). Diana is sporting her classic color scheme of red, gold and blue, a departure from the New 52 Wonder Woman who had silver and navy blue/black. So when it comes to that, the movie Wonder Woman wins over the comics’ Wonder Woman in my book.
On the downside, I wish there were at least one or two stars on her skirt. Since the star spangled shorts are such a big part of Wonder Woman’s iconography, it would be a nice callback to that. And I’m a little tired of Wonder Woman always carrying a sword, but that’s been going on in the comics for well over a decade now, so I can’t blame Zack Snyder for that one. Overall though, I like what I see.
So what do you guys out there think of these latest Wonder Woman images? Are they spot on, or still a little too 300 for your taste? Check out the gallery below of the previous Wonder Woman promo images from El Mayimbe, and tell us what you think in the comments below!
