As a well-known comedic actor, Will Forte is a man of many faces–and hairstyles. From growing outrageous beards to going bald, the SNL-alum is willing to go above and beyond for a laugh. And when we sat down with the co-star from Keanu, the new action comedy starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, this observation proved to be true. Speaking to us with a shaved back hairline, we spoke to Forte about his character in the movie, the loveably doofy drug dealer Hulka. Forte also clued us in on the process of working with Key and Peele for the first time, the difference between work cornrows and vacation cornrows, and the real-life inspiration for his character.
In the vein of New Jack City or Tango & Cash, Keanu showcases Key and Peele as cousins Clarence and Rell and when Peele’s Rell has his beloved kitten catnapped, the hopelessly straight-laced pair must impersonate ruthless killers in order to infiltrate a street gang and retrieve the purloined feline. Forte’s Hulka is the “dipstick” in the middle of it all who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and with insane consequences. Be sure not to miss this all star comedy cast complete with the cutest kitten ever put on film.
Keanu, written by Jordan Peele & Alex Rubens, directed by Peter Atencio, and starring Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, Tiffany Haddish, Method Man, Jason Mitchell, with Luis Guzman, Nia Long, and Will Forte, is in theaters now.
