If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance that awards shows are your own personal sporting event. If that’s the case, good news—The Film Independent Spirit Awards are kicking off the biggest awards show weekend of the year on February 27th, and you’re invited.
We here at Nerdist want to make this the best awards season ever by giving you access to all your favorite stars, and an inside look at what the TV-watching public doesn’t usually get to see. Thanks to the wonders of social media, you can join us on the arrivals carpet with the actors, directors, writers, and more of this year’s biggest films right from your phone or desktop. Nerdist will be streaming the pre-show arrivals live on Periscope (username: NerdistDotCom) featuring all your favorite nominees and hosted by our own Dan Casey. Then, during the show join us on our live blog and social media handles (@Nerdist) for a look at all the backstage behind-the-scenes magic and award winners. Use the hashtag #NerdistSpirit on Twitter to send us your questions for nominees and presenters!
Here’s your guide for who else to follow all day for Spirit Awards coverage on Saturday, February 27:
All week long leading up the Spirit Awards, Film Independent will be capturing the action directly from the site of the awards in Santa Monica, starting with tent set-up and through the final post-show toast. Keep it locked to their social media to see what goes into getting the show up and running start-to-finish with exclusive photo coverage!
What you can expect to see: show rehearsals and prep, a view from the fan pit, Twitter Q&A’s with nominees and presenters, winner announcements, and more!
The Spirit Awards air live on IFC starting at 2pm PT / 5pm ET, so obviously you know that the most irreverent cable channel on the dial will be out in full force giving you all the highlights before the show airs. Don’t have a TV? Don’t worry, the show also streams on IFC.com with a cable login!
What you can expect to see: GIFs of the biggest moments, Snapchat selfies from the carpet and post-win thank you speeches from the press room—plus LIVE red carpet arrivals on Facebook with nominees, presenters and guests.
The 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards will be broadcast live on IFC, February 27 at 2:00 pm PT/5:00 pm ET, hosted by Kumail Nanjiani and Kate McKinnon.
