It’s been a long, long summer, but now that fall is officially here, that means that the best time of the year, aka Fall TV, has arrived! Sure, it may still be upwards of 90 degrees outside, but that just makes the idea of taking refuge inside in the air conditioning on your couch in front of the boob tube that much more enticing.
And now that our favorite shows are either premiering or are about to premiere, we can finally get answers to the questions that have been hanging over our heads all summer long … namely, which guy is Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) going to pick on Jane the Virgin?!
The best new show of last season (that’s a fact, not an opinion) ended on more than one shocking cliffhanger in the season one finale, like Jane’s newborn baby boy Mateo getting kidnapped by Sin Rostro’s (Bridget Regan) henchman right out of Jane’s hospital room, Jane’s mother Xiomara (Andrea Navedo) and her father Rogelio (Jaime Camil) accidentally getting married while drunk in Las Vegas, and Petra (Yael Grobglas) stealing Rafael’s (Justin Baldoni) newly-discovered last sperm sample possibly to knock herself up in order to stay in Rafael’s life.
But the most important cliffhanger: is Jane in love with Rafael, the father of her newborn baby, or Michael (Brett Dier), her ex-fiance? After Mateo was born, she told both of the men vying for her heart that she needed to focus on her son instead of her own romantic inclinations. But with two men who look like that? She won’t hold out for long. Because seriously, who could?
The CW just released the first trailer for Jane the Virgin season two, and the network sure does love a good tease. The video doesn’t answer the question of who Jane is going to pick — is she Team Rafael or Team Michael? Place your bets now in the comments section below! — but the video does end asking that very same question.
And for those skeptics who think that Jane the Virgin isn’t going to pick a side soon, newsflash: Jane will end up married to one or the other this season! “Jane will make a choice with one of the guys,” executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman says. “And we will have a wedding at some point this season.”
But that’s not the only marriage that is bound to shake things up in season two — after Xo and Rogelio’s drunken nuptials in Vegas, they’re going to have to break the news to the family during the season two premiere. And Jane’s reaction to Xo’s confession in the trailer is just perfect. These women are giving us serious mother/daughter relationship goals!
The teaser trailer gives a nice taste of what to expect from season two, but in reality, there’s so much more that didn’t fit in the 30-second promo. Jane’s first experiences with motherhood include struggling to learn how to breastfeed, the unfortunate realities of having to wear adult diapers in the days after giving birth, and … oh yeah, trying to locate her kidnapped newborn baby! Normal first-time mother issues, right?
What are you most excited to see from Jane the Virgin‘s second season?
