If you could get in your car this holiday season and drive around with any musician in the world to sing some Christmas carols as you go from shopping mall to shopping mall, whom would you choose? Okay, now name your top five choices. If you’re the host of a late night talk show, it’s the kind of great hypothetical you really get to experience, which is why James Corden used his Carpool Karaoke segment to get a bunch of famous singers to belt out “Joy to the World.”
This was obviously a plan with some real foresight, as this includes many people that have participated in Corden’s segment over the course of the past year. It may start with him and his bandleader Reggie Watts, but then we get to hear from well-known artists like Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder, Jason Derulo, Carrie Underwood, and One Direction.
Oh, and Rod Stewart played the role of preacher for his performance.
(Side note: Someone went home one day and tried to convince their roommates that they saw James Corden and Iggy Azalea both wearing wedding dresses while she did a Christmas rap. And that someone was laughed at and laughed at. Well who is laughing now, huh Dave?)
It also turns out Stevie Wonder is still the best and he should sing all the Christmas songs all the time. Plus all the non-Christmas songs too.
