It’s probably been a frustrating week for J.J. Abrams. If he’s trying to keep all the secrets of Star Wars: Episode VII under wraps, his plan is suffering major blows. TMZ has shared photos from the set in Abu Dhabi as well as a look inside the shop building vehicles and creatures for the film. The images from yesterday revealed construction of a ship that looks an awful lot like the Millennium Falcon. Today, Abrams has proved he’s ready to roll with the leaked photo punches. Bad Robot posted this note on Twitter:
He expresses that he wishes people would stop posting behind the scenes photos and also states we should stop “making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie.” The best part about this letter is what it’s sitting on top of. Yes, friends, it’s a dejarik table. The holographic game was featured in A New Hope. We first saw it in the Millennium Falcon when Chewbacca and R2-D2 faced off against each other. That’s when we learned the oh so important advice that you should always let the wookiee win.
Abrams’ note pretty much confirms that we’ll see the Millennium Falcon in Episode VII. Though he and Lucasfilm could be working with sites like the TMZ to strategically leak information and set all of this up, I don’t think so. It’s not like they need to worry about getting fans hyped for the film; we’re already excited. Notes like this keep us happy. I predict that after Episode VII has been released, there will be a coffee table book called “Notes from J.J. Abrams.” I will buy at least five copies.
