It’s a beautiful thing when tattoos and pop culture meet–so beautiful that Inked Wednesday exists just to show off that crossroads. I’m floored by the number of geeky tattoos I see on the web and in the world, and at least some of the ink is applied by members of Ink-Fusion. The Ink-Fusion group, founded by Marc Draven, is comprised of professional tattoo artists who take their skills on the road to comic conventions. They state they’re licensed with companies like Lucasfilm–they’re tied into the organization of the tattoo pavilion at Star Wars Celebration.
Anyway! Tattoo artist Steve Rieck belongs to Ink-Fusion and has drawn and/or inked a countless number of geeky tattoos. He’s tackled classic characters from Marvel and DC and newer characters like BB-8 from The Force Awakens and Zoom from The Flash. He does custom work but also has several pre-drawn designs ready to go if you’re in need of some inspiration. Look:
You can see additional examples of his work in the gallery below. You’ll find ink inspired by BioShock, Star Wars, and more. If you’re feeling inspired and live near Las Vegas, you can set up an appointment with Steve. If you’re nowhere near Nevada, you can keep up with Steve’s designs and even more finished ink at Instagram.
Remember: Inked Wednesday keeps rolling onward because of your submissions. I’d love to include your tattoos in a future gallery. You can get photos to me by leaving a link in the comments, tagging or mentioning me on Instagram, or sending me a pic on Twitter. If you’re not the tattoo artist, be sure to let me know who is. If you are a tattoo artist who has a portfolio chock-full of nerdy ink, send a link my way.
