In case you missed the glory and wonder of late night TV last night, here are a few clips from Chris Hardwick‘s latest visit to Conan. In all honesty, the thought on all of our minds yesterday was the passing of Joan Rivers, comedian, cultural critic, and legendary lady of entertainment. Chris, Conan and Andy spent some time remembering Joan doing what she did best: making people laugh. She was more than a legend to many in the comedy and entertainment community, she was also a dear friend and inspiration.
As Chris remembers in this clip, she always strove to stay with the times: she launched a YouTube talk show in 2013 called In Bed With Joan, and continued to bring laughter to her audiences in a new medium. Chris and Conan reminisced about the milestones in their own lives when they remembered seeing her perform, and asked for a round of applause in her honor.
In addition to the friendship and the memories, Chris climbed into bed for her 50th episode of In Bed With Joan earlier this year, and she came on the Nerdist Podcast in August 2012 for a fascinating discussion of her history in comedy and entertainment. If you haven’t had the chance to give it a listen, definitely run over there right now.
In addition to remembering Rivers, Hardwick brought lighter topics to the interview couch as well. He went out of his way to make it totally clear that he does not see himself as an ambassador for all geeks or the internet or anything, so don’t feel like you have to get right online and tell him that he doesn’t represent you. He knows!
That TARDIS room looks pretty sweet, but the real question is: Does he run to the theme for Doctor Who when he’s on the treadmill? Because that would totally make sense! Running is kind of a theme for anyone who travels in the TARDIS.
In case you ever wondered what Hardwick looks like as your favorite Alderaanian princess, never fear! There are pictures, and Conan and the internet, will never let him forget it. And because there definitely wasn’t DVRing as we know it today back when Hardwick competed on Jeopardy, Conan made sure to bring back the killer hairstyle Chris was rocking then, too.
And who doesn’t love a good cooking segment? Watch Chris, Conan, and Andy learn to eat ramen correctly. They’re into it. They might be too into it. Some extreme things happen.
