Banjo-Kazooie, Battletoads, Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong Country — these are just a few of the names that come to mind when you hear the name Rare. The company has been around for 30 years and has already produced tons of franchises that have become household names. With 2015 being a special year for the studio, Los Angeles-based gallery iam8bit decided to join the nostalgic fun by teaming up with Xbox and Rare on a collection limited edition deluxe vinyl sets.
Though it was available at SDCC this year, the 180-gram vinyl featuring the Battletoads OST composed David Wise will be re-released with a cover featuring art by Nick Gazin. Also, since there’s nothing sweeter than the tunes of Banjo-Kazooie, Grant Kirkhope’s original soundtrack for the game obviously made the cut. Artist Jacub Gagnon created the cover (above) for this one. Last but not least is Grant Kirkhope, Grame Norgate, and David Clynick’s Perfect Dark OST. The vinyl sleeve for this bad boy features James Bond-esque art by Marco D’Alfonso.
All three albums will be available for pre-order starting August 4 at 10 am PDT. There will only be 3,000 copies of each out in the wild, so if you’re looking to snag one, act quickly. They’ll be retailing for $35 each.
This announcement comes just in time for the Xbox One release of the Rare Replay–which is out Tuesday, August 4. In honor of the collection’s launch, iam8bit also partnered up with the folks at DKNG on the above screen print, which features all 30 of the titles to be included in the game. The print itself will cost $50, and will be hand-signed and numbered. There will be 400 in total released.
