Listen, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is pretty good, but where others see hope, we see a missed opportunity. The newest installment of the Star Wars franchise should have done a crossover with one of the most beloved and revered heroes of the 21st century. We are of course talking about Dayman, from that one episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
A faux trailer created by Brown Moses imagines this scenario, in which our hero, the Dayman, takes on the Nightman, all in the Star Wars universe. The Nightman could easily be replaced by the Dark Side, and the Dayman. The video doesn’t actually do all that much mashing up: The audio, a more dramatic version of the Dayman song from It’s Always Sunny, was taken from a pre-existing It’s Always Sunny/Superman mash-up video, while the video is just footage from the new movie.
We never actually see the Dayman, so perhaps in this scenario, he is less of a physical character and more of a symbol of peace, justice and all that is right, an omnipotent figure or philosophy that the light side follows in their attempts to keep the universe on the up-and-up in their battles against the dark side.
Regardless of the logistics, now we’re waiting for the big-screen adaptation of the Dayman. Perhaps it could go into his origin story, and we’re not talking about the one that involves the play written in a failed attempt to impress the waitress.
