So you’ve probably already heard, but so-called “adult coloring books” are kind of a thing now. They’re basically the same things you had in kindergarten and pre-school, but with more complicated drawings inside so you don’t feel completely childish while doing them. There are coloring books of Tibetan designs, various complicated geometric patterns, and even coloring books designed to help you in therapeutic ways, with meditation and relaxations. Just make sure you stay in the lines.
The latest adult coloring book is actually a much-anticipated one, as George R.R. Martin’s publisher Bantam has announced an adult coloring book based on A Song of Ice and Fire (the book series on which Game of Thrones is based on) coming this fall.
Yes, I know many of you are frustrated that the latest book set in the world of the Seven Kingdoms isn’t The Winds of Winter, which is the next book that everyone really wants. Maybe you can take out your frustrations with several red crayons, maybe on pages featuring characters you hate like King Joffrey and Cersei Lannister. Just make sure you save enough red crayons for when you hit the Red Wedding page. You’ll need a lot of red for that one.
While we all eagerly await the release of this new coloring book, which is set to come out on October 27th, Barnes & Noble has gone and asked artist Grant Lindahl to draw what he imagines the Game of Thrones coloring book might actually look like when it arrives. It looks pretty spot-on by the looks of it.
You can even download the blank pages yourself and have your own little Game of Thrones coloring party. Check out all of Lindahl’s Games of Thrones coloring book pages in our gallery below.
