Drink it in, folks. Drink it in. That would be one Redditor’s idea of what it would look like if Ser Pounce took his rightful place in Westeros: sitting atop the Iron Throne. It’s Game of Thrones: Kitty Edition!
Now, before we get into it: yes, we know — this cat doesn’t exactly look like the Ser Pounce we came to know and love from the series’ most recent season. He’s not the fuzzy royal furball of our hearts at first glance, but oh — what folly it would be to assume they are not one and the same.
I mean — HELLO! This is the Known Realm we’re talking about, and sometimes you have to take extreme measures to protect yourself. I mean, Pounce would know the importance of protection, having lived years within proximity of evil Joffrey’s petulant hand. Fool him once, shame on you, but fool him twice? Never.
That’s why we’re here to bring you the real reason Ser Pounce looks so different in his animated iteration: because Ser Pounce — much like Arya Stark after him — set sail to Braavos shortly after the death of Joffrey, sensing his time was soon upon him. It was there he gave himself over to the Faceless Men of Braavos, becoming their first non-human entity. There he learned how to change his face (and whiskers, and ears, and tail), to shade himself from the danger that comes with being a royal by-proxy. So now Ser Pounce is a fuzzball no more, but rather more of a tabby. At least for now, because valar morghulis.
