Universal just keeps adding delicious icing to its Wizarding World expansion. We recently got our first look inside Gringotts Bank, part of the upcoming attraction “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts,” and now we have more details about the ride – including news about which characters will appear along the way. Get excited because Harry, Ron, and Hermione will be featured in brand new scenes as part of the attraction. That’s so wizard!
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson will reprise their roles from the fantasy series. Art director Alan Gilmore told MTV the trio is “regrouping for one last adventure.” Gilmore confirmed it’s all new material and that it’s of the highest quality. He stated both people from the Universal production team and the film’s team worked on the footage.
But, that’s not all! “Escape from Gringotts” will bring back Warwick Davis (Griphook), Bellatrix (Helena Bonham-Carter), and Voldemort. Gilmore didn’t say whether Ralph Fiennes is portraying the Big Bad or if someone else stepped into the makeup and prosthetics.
The reunion has been kept a secret for a while. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Senior Vice President of Universal Creative said he directed the scenes for the Gringotts ride over one year ago: “I actually got to direct those scenes for this new Universal Orlando attraction in December of 2012. And it was obvious that the cast members who came back to be part of the Gringotts shoot really enjoyed the opportunity to revisit these characters.”
Coup explained “Escape from Gringotts” won’t exactly replicate what we’ve already seen in the books or films. Passengers on the ride will parallel Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s path as they race through the underbelly of the massive bank searching for the horcrux in the Lestrange vault. It sounds like it will be a thrilling ride. Is it time to get in line yet?
Universal still hasn’t announced the exact opening date for the Wizarding World Diagon Alley addition, but at the rate they’re pumping out teases, I’d guess it’s going to be soon.
