Marvel Phase Three is about to kick off with Captain America: Civil War–maybe you’ve heard of it or seen a billboard? Phase Three is looking to be the biggest phase in the studio’s near-decade history to date, with as many as eleven films currently slated under the banner between 2016 and 2019. So, with all of that in mind, why not start thinking of Phase Four? A collective mixture of “Oh boy!” and “Ayayaye” probably just flashed through the minds of every fan ever. So many movies to get excited about! One of them, according to Kevin Feige, is almost assuredly a third Guardians of the Galaxy.
“It’s still a big chess board for 2020 and beyond.”
In an interview with io9, the President of Marvel Studios was asked about the state of the galaxy and those who guard it for future sequels. Feige responded, “We’re only working on what’s been announced through the end of 2019. And it is still a big chess board for 2020 and beyond, but certainly I would say Guardians 3 is [one film that’s] up there. I don’t know what exactly the order will be.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated for May 5, 2017, and we don’t even know what that might be like, but we also found out this week that the likelihood of Star-Lord and possibly the other Guardians will show up in The Avengers: Infinity War movies seems incredibly high. So, we may in fact have a further four films featuring everybody’s favorite alien-trouncing rapscallions to look forward to in the coming years. We’re probably gonna run out of mix tapes at this rate.
