Last week, a few select Nerdist readers were treated to a free, advance screening of Goosebumps, the upcoming family romp about the beloved children’s book series. Fans gathered at the Arclight theater in Hollywood, CA to watch Jack Black, playing Goosebumps’ infamous author, R.L. Stine, and Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, and Ryan Lee as the three kids who unwittingly unleash Goosebumps‘ fictional monsters and ghouls upon the real world.
And though attendees knew that our nerd overlord Chris Hardwick would be hosting the screening, there were some spooky surprises along the way. Not only was the audience treated to the premiere of our ’90s-style Nerdist Presents Goosebumps movie rap, “Bumps Gonna Goose Ya” (starring our own Malik Forte), the screening ended with a Q&A with Jack Black!
The two sat together to chat about Jack’s portrayal of R.L. Stine, why he chose to make a scary, yet kid-friendly movie, his ideas for a sequel (don’t steal them, internet!), and his music comedy festival, Festival Supreme, which kicks off in Los Angeles this weekend.
Check out the full Q&A in the video above, let us know what your favorite Goosebumps story is in the comments below, and make sure you check out Jack Black’s appearance on the Nerdist Podcast!
