Ah, you can never assume a giant robot WON’T go insane; that’s a lesson for the ages, and one that Nick and Gary from Sneaky Zebra, as well as several other YouTube folks, learned the hard way in the new video “Some Dis-Assembly Required.” How many internet personalities does it take to destroy a rampaging robot created for San Diego Comic-Con 2013? Turns out, several, but they’re going to need some tutelage from a mentor of some kind if they’re going to pull it off…and we know just the mentor! Who better than Chris Hardwick, the Nerdist himself, to mete out some advice from the comfort of an iPad? No one, is the answer.
This video features the Geek Week robot made by the Stan Winston School and Legacy Effects that took San Diego by storm two summers ago (see some video!) squaring off against a cadre of YouTube’s finest geeks, including Jimmy Wong of RocketJump, Clinton Jones, The Screen Team, Mars Rising, and the Zebra boys themselves. It’s an epic battle between the forces of good and the forces of, maybe not evil, but misguided, let’s say? Luckily, everybody’s got some sweet weapons and they know how to use them, even if the weapons are remote controlled cars or accordion music. Every little bit helps.
Oh, and you know that handsome devil running from the robot at the beginning? Well the other guy with the beard and glasses is me!
The video was shot at New Deal Studios, who were gracious enough to host the carnage.
Be sure to subscribe to everybody’s page, or that robot will reassemble and come looking for you.
