With E3 officially behind us, we are preparing for the next big thing, which is literally a week away. I am, of course, talking about San Diego Comic Con. You better believe we will be covering all the awesome exclusives, especially since the likes of Capcom and Obsidian will be holding their own panels. Exciting times are ahead of us my friends. As for the here and now, there’s a plethora of exciting news to cover, so let us jump right in. Today’s Gaming Daily features Reggie responding to some more E3 criticism, Shuhei Yoshida showing up on an episode of Hot Pepper Gaming, Nintendo making some improvements to Miiverse, Naughty Dog showing off an extended E3 demo of Uncharted 4, and Shuhei Yoshida playing some Bloodborne. Let’s get this party started.
Reggie’s body was not ready for the Metroid Prime: Federation Force criticism.
Out of the big 3, it seems like Nintendo is the only one that really disappointed their loyal fans at this year’s E3. I’m not saying that I necessarily agree with the negative assessment of their showing this year, but they certainly didn’t blow anybody away with their games. Instead of celebrating their announcements and upcoming titles, the Big N has had to answer plenty of questions about the deemed lackluster Direct. Out of everything that was shown, no title got such vitriol thrown it’s way like Metroid Prime: Federation Force. I’d say for good reason too.
Instead of incorporating or reviving the Prime series that has been dormant for so long, Nintendo chose to not focus on Samus Aran, and instead opted to take more of a spin-off approach. When speaking to Mashable, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime had this to say about the fan reaction, “What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren’t expecting. The reaction has been negative. There’s no sugar coating it”. He further says that fans should trust them. He points out the importance of getting your hands on the game saying, “This is an example where fans who aren’t able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage. Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they’ve come across really pleased”.
Finally, he makes it clear that they believe in what they are doing stating, “We’re taking our great IP and transforming them and making them new again — making them fresh and appealing for the fan who feels they know the franchise”.
We live in a time where the cool thing is to overreact about everything. It’s textbook behavior in the age of the internet. What was disappointing to me was that Samus Aran was cast aside for this game. I understand that a spin-off focuses on other characters, but we haven’t had a great Metroid game in so long that this would have been the perfect time to see her return.
Recent Hot Pepper Interview features Shuhei Yoshida Eating a Habanero.
The man who has quickly become the face of all things PlayStation, Shuhei Yoshida, has been a busy man. After being an integral part of the Playstation E3 conference, the man himself made an appearance on Hot Pepper Gaming for an interview about the indie title Nuclear Throne. Things get interesting pretty quickly. Check out the video above for some hilarious moments.
Nintendo improves Miiverse.
When the Wii U originally released, plenty of people who got their hands on the gamepad touted how fun and interesting Miiverse turned out to be. The hype and excitement surrounding the new social addition didn’t last very long, unfortunately, but that may be a result of the poor sales of the actual console and not the quality of the service. Well, if you are still fiddling around with Miiverse, you’ll be happy to know that Nintendo is going to revamp the social integration with a new sleek look and add new features.
Starting this summer, you will be able to save up to 100 screenshots onto your personal private album. You’ll also be able to create a play journal that will automatically save a screenshot of what you’re doing while writing your entry. Communities will also have separate categories for journal entries, drawings, and discussions.
I was never big on this sort of social experience, but this should provide more entertainment and ways to enjoy gaming for those that play on the Wii U. At least Nintendo is taking the initiative to improve a system that they probably want to continue using in future consoles. It’s already migrated over to the 3DS, so it makes sense to move it over to whatever the NX turns out to actually be.
Naughty Dog holds a Twitch stream to show off E3 extended Uncharted 4 demo.
Ah, I can’t believe E3 has already come and gone. It only seems like yesterday that we were dreaming of all the secret announcements that were going to be made. Turns out there weren’t too many to speak of other than the trifecta (The Last Guardian, FFVII Remake, and Shenmue 3) from Sony’s conference, but we did get a further look at Nathan Drake’s last adventure at the show. What people didn’t get to see was the extended look of the demo and I was lucky enough to get a showing of it, which you can check out here. For those that didn’t get the opportunity to see it, Naughty Dog decided to stream the rest of the demo on Twitch.TV so that fans can bask in all of the jeep race glory. You can now watch it on their broadcasting channel.
Shuhei Yoshida Plays Bloodborne on PlayStation Underground.
If watching Shuhei Yoshida go through the pain of munching on a Habanero pepper wasn’t enough to entertain you, maybe watching him play Bloodborne will. I think it’s safe to say that the only thing that would have made him more badass, is if he ate a habanero pepper WHILE playing Bloodborne, now that would be extreme. The president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment has been very vocal about his love of the “Souls” games so of course he loves the recent PS4 exclusive created by FromSoftware. He took some time from what is probably an incredibly busy schedule to join the PlayStation Underground crew to play Bloodborne’s chalice dungeons and face one of the toughest boss fights in the game. Spoiler alert, it’s awesome.
He shows off his hunter skills as he’s facing this fire breathing beast. He also discloses some interesting stories about his relationship with the development team and his love for their games. Peep the whole video above, it’s a good watch.
After watching both videos above, it comes as no surprise that fans find him so endearing.

Now, excuse me while I profusely sweat as I stare at my laptop screen, hoping that my beloved Lakers make a big free agent acquisition. Wish me luck.
