It’s finally Friday and boy has it been a busy day in terms of news. Earlier today, we got to watch Conan get sexually frustrated with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and heard more about the dual play feature in Batman: Arkham Knight from the folks at Rocksteady. That wasn’t all that rocked the gaming world today, however. In today’s Gaming Daily: an artist created a really cool Ocarina of Time-inspired case mod for his Nintendo 64, details for the next Assassin’s Creed game leaked ahead of the title’s announcement, and Sega is pulling down mobile games from app stores but won’t say which.
Somebody designed a really cool Zelda-inspired case mod for the Nintendo 64
While Belgian artist Vadu Amka is no stranger to modding N64’s, there’s something about his recent creation inspired by Ocarina of Time that’s got us feeling oh so nostalgic. The image of the system, which we discovered on Kotaku, showcases the artist’s impeccable attention to detail.
The system boasts realistic moss, brick work, and even a shield, which the creator notes was remolded in resin for a thinner and angular rendering. The front of the console sports the three ancestral gems: Kokiri emerald, Goron ruby, and the Zora sapphire–which are all important items for the main quest.
Also, the N64’s logo was redesigned to resemble the saga’s typography. I don’t know about you, but I really want one!
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to see holiday release according to leak
It was just yesterday that Ubisoft revealed that they would be announcing the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series on May 12. While rumors were already circulating that the game would be called Assassin’s Creed: Victory, it has come to light today via a leak to Polygon that the game is actually going to be called Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.
While the information will likely remain unconfirmed until the actual announcement is made next week, the promotional material sent to Polygon stated that the game will star an assassin named Jacob Frye, and will “transport millions of gamers to an astonishing recreation of London during the Industrial Revolution where they will find themselves immersed in a game world they’ll have to see to believe”.
Also, according to the information, if you pre-order the title at GameStop, you’ll receive an Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate shilling necklace, similar to the one worn by Frye in the game.
Sega is taking some mobile games down from app stores
According to a statement on Sega’s official blog, the company will be removing select games from Apple’s app store, the Google Play store, Samsung App store, and the Amazon App store. While they don’t name the titles set to be taken down, they do note that they are ones that they believe to be subpar at this point.
The announcement on the company website states “At SEGA we are committed to making fun, high-quality mobile games and it is with our fans’ best playing experience in mind that we announce the removal of a number of games from our back catalogue. It is important for us to ensure that all of our fans, regardless of platform or operating system, have a great playing experience and after evaluating our complete list of titles, we have determined that a number of them no longer meet our standards.”
The interesting thing about this is that they also mention that even if a game is removed from the app store, you’ll be able to re-download it as long as you’ve already purchased it and your device is still compatible with it. So, unlike Flappy Bird, or P.T. you won’t be seeing people sell their systems with the unobtainable games installed. Though, I wonder how many people would do that anyways. I guess it depends on the game in question.
