GAME OF THRONES’ Season 7 Premiere Date is Here

Our long national nightmare is finally over and winter is totally here: the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere date has arrived.

The televised iteration of George R.R. Martin‘s epic A Song of Ice and Fire series will return to HBO for its 7-episode long, seventh season on July 16, 2017. So close and yet SO FAR!

The network unveiled the news…on a block of ice they melted with fire. Literally. For what felt like the longest Winter on record in the Realm…the whole of the internet watched goddamn ice melt.

(Frankly I’d be mad at myself for doing so if it wasn’t also my job.)

They also revealed a teaser of rock-formed iterations of the house sigils fighting their cyclical battles for power featuring quotes from past seasons (and a new warning about The Great War from Jon Snow). No new footage, but hey: who doesn’t love a little bit of hype, eh?

Confirmed as the penultimate season of the revered and beloved fantasy series, Game of Thrones‘ final episodes are sure to bust open the true intentions of Martin’s rambling, complicated plot. Will Jon Snow be the one to save us all? Will Dany get her dragons to behave? Will Cersei finally murder Tyrion for killing their dad on the pooper? And WILL WE FINALLY FIND POOR OL’ GENDRY FOR REAL?!

#neverforget:

One of the things we’re most looking forward to this season (other than the eventual meeting of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen)? Jim Broadbent’s mysterious archmaester character. Though he hasn’t said much about it, we’re certain his will be a character that’ll change everything we’ve come to know about the machinations of the Realm. (You can read more about that long-held fan theory here.) Here’s hoping Gendry rowed NOWHERE NEAR THE CITADEL THIS SEASON. But I mean, knowing this show, he probably/totally did.
