A Game of Thrones children’s book would probably warp a lot of young impressionable minds. But if George R.R. Martin ever decides to go for that idea, we know who we’d recommending as the illustrator. Scott Campbell, a.k.a. Scott C., has taken on Game of Thrones in his ongoing series of Great Showdowns illustrations. In 20 pinups, Scott has recreated several of the biggest confrontations from the epic HBO fantasy drama and translated them into his own signature style. The cuteness was inevitable!
Among the subjects are Ned Stark vs. Ice (the sword that beheaded him), Lady Olenna vs. Tywin, Bran and Hodor vs. The Three-Eyed-Raven, Sam vs. a White Walker, Jon Snow vs. Ygritte, and several other natural pairings from the series.
Starting today, Scott C. is offering his Game of Thrones illustrations as prints on his website, which will be limited to 50 copies of each. The prints are being released on a staggered basis, with five per day coming through Friday, July 24. The first round of illustrations comes from Scott C.’s Comic-Con prints, which includes Tyrion vs. Joffrey, The Mountain vs. The Red Viper, Arya vs. The Hound, Daenerys vs. The Slave Masters, and the Battle of Castle Black—complete with an adorable, smiling Wall.
Scott C.’s prior credits include his stint as the Art Director at Double Fine Productions for Psychonauts and Brutal Legend. He has also illustrated the books Zombie In Love, East Dragon West Dragon, and he has written and illustrated Hug Machine. Scott C.’s Great Showdowns illustrations have also been collected as books.
