In one month, FX will premiere the latest whacked-out season of one of television’s most disturbing series, American Horror Story. This time around, Ryan Murphy’s pulling out all the stops – not that there were many left to pull – in order to takes us back in time to an operating, traveling freak show, where we’ll explore all sorts of insane characters that we’ve seen in teasers for the last few weeks. Now, with the premiere so close that we can almost taste it with our bifurcated tongues, the network has unveiled the first extended look at the cast in action in a brand new trailer that you absolutely must feast your eyes upon:
You can watch the extended trailer at the official American Horror Story Facebook page.
First things first, we’re going to need a copy of that song (“Carousel” by Melanie Martinez), because it’s awesome on just about every quantifiable level. The same goes for the trailer itself. The cast is in full force in this thing and it’s really selling us on something completely out-there for the series, perhaps more so than even Asylum. We finally get a look at Sarah Paulson as the two-headed woman (Dot and Bette), Kathy Bates as the bearded lady, Michael Chiklis as a strong man, Evan Peters as a deceptively normal looking man, and Jessica Lange, along with Jyoti Amge, the world’s smallest woman.
It’s impossible to try and predict anymore what Ryan Murphy and his crack team of writers has planned for us, but if this trailer is any indication, we may be in for the best season of AHS yet. Murder House was fun, Asylum was raw to the bone, and Coven was full on camp, but this appears to be a mix of everything at once. The outlandishness is there, the atmosphere is there, and the unique characters are there. To put it simply, this is the kind of American Horror Story we’ve been waiting to see!
American Horror Story returns October 8 on FX.
